Description: I am having trouble lately with my Excel document, titled Travel Authorization Log as of Feb 21st 2008.xls
This happened a couple weeks ago, and I ended up having to save to my desktop and later rebooting my computer. We figured it was a transitory issue since it fixed itself when I rebooted. Now it happened again, so I am reporting it. I will include a screen shot of what happens when I try to save the file.

Also, I am unable to save the file ANYWHERE at this time - so any ideas on how I can save my work while we are figuring this out, would be great. :)

Hi Blank,
Are you just having issue with this particular file? Is this file a shared one? When you say you can't save a file anywhere, what do you mean?
If this is a shared file, please check the owner of the file and see if anyone has a right to write on this file. As far as saving it, where do you normally save it? Again if you're trying to save it in a shared folder, please check if you have rights to that folder.
Thanks,

I am currently only having this problem with this particular file. When I say I can't save it, I've tried saving it to my desktop instead of in my documents, and I still get the same "unable to save" pop up.
As far as I know, this is not a shared folder. I do send the file as an attachment on a weekly basis, to --- in Accounting. This is for her records mostly, but every once in a while she will help me out if I am out of the office. In that case, she then makes changes to it and just sends it right back as an attachment. I then save it again to my documents as usual. I don't know why this is only just happening now.
Hope this helps you help me. ;-)
Thanks mucho!

What about renaming the file, just to see if you can save it?
Blank - 05/Mar/08 02:36 PM
Just tried that, and got the same "document not saved" pop up.
Also, when I came into work this morning, the file name was changed to hello.xlsWas that you? Or maybe someone has hacked into the file? Weird.
One more thing, not sure if it helps or not...if I open another excel document, do work on it, and then try to Alt+Tab to get to the TA excel sheet - it doesn't show up. I have to minimize the other doc. to see the TA one.

One small update:
I just created a new Excel sheet and copied all the information over to that and saved it. That one saved fine. I labeled Temporary TA book. So, if we can't fix the issue (maybe there is a bug in that file only?) then at least I won't lose the information.
Thanks!

Hi Blank,
First question, no I didn't rename your file :)Second comment, yea, I think the file is shared so my recommendation is when you modify than save it, try saving it using a different name. Then once you successfully saved it, you can then rename it back to Travel Authorization Log as of Feb 21st 2008.xls and see if that works.
Let me know how it goes.

I cannot save it no matter what I try. I think the file may be corrupt. How else would it just be renamed "hello"? Currently, I have closed that file, and am working off of the new one I created. :-)

Ummm that sucks :) sorry to hear that.
I'm thinking also it could be the file was locked. Or have you tried copying it to a new file? That way you're not really creating it from scratch :)Let me know if you're good for now and I will close this ticket

I opened up a new excel sheet, copied all the info from the old one onto the new one - so no creating from scratch at least!
I'm good for now, I guess - but ----- said the issue needed to be researched on in the meantime. So maybe check with him, before closing? Thanks for all your help!

Do you know who owns this file?
Blank - 10/Mar/08 02:31 PM
As far as I know, this is not a shared folder...so my answer would have to be - no, i don't know who owns it. ;-) Sorry!
